Startup BeeCanvas won our BETAPITCH in Seoul and thus is amongst our finalists on the 29th! Beecanvas is an online visual collaboration tool: a virtual canvas for anything. It enables you to arrange files, links and other resources along with visual comments on a single canvas, so all shared information can be understood at a glance. BeeCanvas can be used for aggregating song lyrics, music videos and scans of tickets, just as well as it can be used for sharing storyboard sketches, video clips and text scripts – all in real time.

Accelerator or bootstrap?
JOKERPACK Inc. was registered in 2014 but it has been two years since we established the company. We did bootstrap for a year, and before BeeCanvas, we have conducted two other projects. We established the company while developing our service, BeeCanvas. We were invested by SK & Hanwha, one of Korea’s conglomerates and we are in an accelerating programme with Hanwha.
What are you spending money on?
Mainly we are focused on developing the product that is practical, professional and efficient. Thus, we spent the most in development and almost none in marketing.
What tool are you using the most for making you a better startup / getting you through the days?
Interview videos with Jack Dorsey, a co-founder of Twitter and the founder and CEO of Square were a great help for me.
We would like to introduce a favourite quote.
“The product is the story we’re telling the world. We want to put everything through this. We don’t want it to be about a person. We want it to be about how people are using it and how people are fitting it into their lives and what they’re doing with it. That’s the strongest story we have.”
‘How to startup’ by Y-combinator at Stanford OCW was also helpful.
Regarding the entrepreneurship, We’ve been guided by Matsushita Konosuke and Kazuo Inamori. They are legendary entrepreneurs in Japan.
We believe that having a solid mission and vision are far more important than having a solid business model for startup, because at the end of the day, it is our belief that is important, not the money.
Who are you looking up to?
We are attracting foreign investors – Series A Investment of US $2M – at the moment. We would like to penetrate the European market.
We hope BeeCanvas becomes like Club Mate, the popular German energy drink that everyone enjoys.
